Prince Harry’s ‘special bond’ with his grandfather and how he kept in touch from the US

Prince Harry admitted in an interview with James Corden earlier this year that he used to speak regularly with Prince Philip and the Queen via Zoom.

“My grandfather, instead of, like, pressing ‘leave meeting’, he just goes doof,” Prince Harry laughed, doing a hand gesture to signal closing the laptop.

Royal commentator Katie Nicholl tells 9Honey the Duke of Sussex wanted to ensure his grandparents witnessed his son Archie’s milestones after he and Meghan Markle moved to the US.

“I don’t think Prince Philip spoke to Prince Harry as much as the Queen but they hadn’t seen each other for well over a year and Zoom really was the only option to see each other,” Nicholl says.

“I don’t think the duke was a fan of Zoom, I think he preferred to speak on the telephone but Harry made sure he kept in regular touch.

“I think absolutely Harry’s always been very aware of wanting to keep contact up with his grandparents — when he moved away he did make a point of making sure he was in regular in touch with them, that was really important to him. And really important to the Queen and Philip, that they got to see their great-grandson and they got to witness some of those milestones.”
